Mariott comes to the position of national commander with a wealth of experience in Royal Rangers. He served in the Ranger program of his local assembly before becoming district commander. With a love for the outdoors and a burden to reach boys for Christ, Mariott believes in the effectiveness of the Royal Rangers outreach.
A Vietnam veteran, Mariott has received one of the highest awards presented by the Air Force, the Air Force Commendation Medal. He will assume leadership of the national Royal Rangers office at the General Council of the Assemblies of God in Springfield, Mo., in June.
The Rev. Ken Hunt has resigned his position as national commander. He leaves his office to pursue a new ministry direction after having served from September 1989 to the present.
"After seeking the Lord now for many months," Hunt says, "both my wife, Sharon, and I have come to know that God is leading us into yet another phase of ministry. Sadly enough, this means leaving the national Royal Rangers ministry. I give thanks for ten wonderful years. Having fallen in love with Royal Rangers, I have enough memories to last a lifetime."
