Summer 2000Being the good mountain critter that he is, Lodestone had his ear to the ground and picked up the rumer of desprite need in the villages of the Gros Ventres. Word was sent by smoke signal to the trapping company.
So we commenced packing our foofraw. Our illustrious Assistant Scout, Rex’s Warrior, along with Watchman and Possum hit the trail to find the way. Leaving easy to follow sign, we arrived in the villages near the end of the week.
The ravages of time, wind, and weather, had left the local Mission in great need of repair. Our first afternoon and evening was spent locating camp, scouting the area for land marks and meeting the local tribespeople.
After
a good nights rest from our weary travels, we began the first phase of
our reconstruction. Lodestone, Eagleheart, Wispering Toilet, and Brokenhand
all showed up by noon and, after preparing their camp, joined
in the work with a will. That same evening, Walks Tall and Tote Goat arrived
to complete the work party. Each of these who came brought others, not
of our band, who are willing to serve others as well. Over the next day
and a half, we made some unwelcome discoveries as well as completing other
major projects.
On the Lord’s Day, Eaglehart and Watchman joined with the worship team and Pastor Amy led a simple but excellent worship service. Sunday afternoon, we left the Gros Ventres villages thankfull for a chance to serve, meet new folks, and share the love of Jesus.
Our thanks to all who participated in this project. May your Father in Heaven richly bless you.
—Watchman
